Aether Aether nods to Mola and starts walking towards the Ruins. On the way, he starts thinking about what Kayn would say to him not wishing to participate in the war between Clerics and Demonkind. "Mola... I have to ask. Do you know anything about Kayn's thoughts on the war?" He needed to know the answer before he made any long term decisions with this pride. "Does he feel war is needed to stay alive, or would he rather everyone stay out of it and only fight to protect the pride?" He tried to keep his opinions on the matter a secret, for the time being. He needed an honest answer and didn't want one that was swayed out of respect for her Alpha's decision. Aishi Aishi only crept closer as Elora spoke to her. She was still very weak and had no control over her senses. When Kyle bolted, Aishi tried to stop him, but a pounce only landed her on her stomach and Kyle was too far from her for that to even land in the first place. She slowly gets up and tries her best to run over to the two blobs that looked like the elf and the Shifter. Although her running didn't hold as much limping as her walking did, it wore her out to do so and she could feel her body fading with each stride.

Elora snapped her head back to Kyle when she heard Alex's scream. The boy was gone in an instant; she didn't even have time to react. Muttering an elvish curse, she grabbed her bow and a handful of arrows and sprinted after the boy. How could she let her attention falter like that? "Sorry, Alex!" she called back to the shifter. To her, the choice between following Kyle and helping Alex was barely a choice at all. Alex barely mattered - he was just a temporary ally, and an expendable one. Wind whipped in her face and plants tore at her clothes as she ran, making her eyes water. The poor light and thick brush made Kyle even harder to follow. This was no ordinary chase, this was a chase that Elora's revenge depended on. Alright, Elora, you need him alive, she told herself, just barely keeping sight of Kyle through the trees. Notching the bow while running, she took a millisecond to stop, lift her the bow, and fire. The arrow, with a whizzing sound, just missed Kyle's thigh and dug into a tree with a thunk. "You know you can't outrun me!" Elora called out, beginning to feel exhilarated by the chase as she started to close the distance between them. Wildly, she noticed that the trees were growing slicklier and the light was turning a frightening shade of gray. The Dark Forest. "Unless you want to take your chances with the dark forest, then?"
Ethen chuckled a little bit at Luna. "Whoa, calm down with all the questions," he said, holding his hands up toward her. "Kyle's another Cleric. He likes to go hunting sometimes, but he usually comes back in a few hours. I mean, technically we're not supposed to go out alone, but they're less strict with certain people. And if you're not a Cleric, you're probably not allowed to go." He gave an apologetic shrug. "Sorry, it's the rules."

Mola listened as Aether spoke, her head turning slightly as she thought. "He believes that everyone can live together in peace, like before," she said, then spoke again. "He also believes in defending the pack, though. At all costs." She hoped that would answer Aether's question, but it wasn't that straight forward. Kayn was a good Alpha- he was kind and caring, loved his underlings.. He was a great man. He had firm beliefs, too; that humans and demonkind would one day dwell side by side peacefully.

Kyle ran wildly, his legs burning and arms pumping, breath coming out in little bursts as he pushed himself forward. He couldn't be caught. He had to keep running. Had to escape. Had to. He kept running as fast as he could, the pain in his shoulder growing as he moved. He grunted but kept moving. As Elora spoke, he noticed that the scenery around him was changing- he was entering the Dark Forest. Without a weapon, there was no way he would survive in there, he realized darkly. He had two options, though, and neither seemed a good plan. Surrender to the elf, or keep running until she finally caught him. Dammit, he thought bitterly. He could feel himself slowing already, his body unable to keep the constant speed. She was right behind him now, and would soon be upon him. With a dark sigh, he raised his hands in surrender, slowing down until he was walking, then stopped. He would have died in the Dark Forest, anyway, he told himself.
Alex, still lying on the ground, gripped the arrow one last time in his fist and jerked. It came out slowly, tearing at his flesh as it did, making his normally tanned skin pale at the pain of it. Grunting, he threw the arrow away from him, his pupils dilated and teeth slightly elongated in his half-shift. Letting out a growl, he followed Kyle and Elora's scent deep through the forest, to the edge of the Dark Forest. It looked like they had kept going, into the darkness of the trees and brambles. Alex wasted no time in following, his eyes darting about as he took in the sights of the place. He saw them then, Elora approaching Kyle who had stood still in surrender.

Luna found herself blushing a little as Ethen told her to slow down on the questioning. She had a tenancy to ask too many questions, but with her memory gone, she had to learn things somehow. "Sorry," she said a little sheepishly, smiling at her friend. When he said she probably couldn't go, she made a little face, shrugging a little in return. "Yeah, I figured they wouldn't let me come, but.. You know," she said, smiling again. "I had to ask."

Aether Aether nods. "That's all I needed to know. Thank you, Mola." He didn't reveal his feelings on the matter, even though he was happy that Kayn somewhat believed the same things he did. He reaches into his pocket and slowly pulls out the ocarina as they get closer. Keeping his focus on the ocarina, he only hopes that they had enough room for the animals he was caring for. Aishi Aishi falls to the ground when she sees Alex leave. She shifted to her semi-Passing form, struggling to do so. She rolled onto her back and rested, trying to regain her energy. Trying to stay positive, she only lets one sentence slip from her lips. "At-At least... I can shift... again." She lets her eyes close, not worrying if Kyle was alone or not, even though she was. She stayed alert to any other sounds.

With a huff, Elora slowed down to a stop beside Kyle, glancing around for a moment before turning her attention to him. "Good," she purred, "looks like you're pretty smart after all." Taking the stem of some ivy from the ground, she began to wrap it around Kyle's wrists. Suddenly, though, a faint whisper could be heard through the trees. Elora stopped in her tracks, almost growling at the sound. "Get lost, GOBLIN." She spat the word out like it was disgusting to even say. She knotted the tie harder than she intended to, her composure cracking. "He's mine." The wind picked up, blowing a chilling breeze as the creature cackled. "Oh, but he looks so... tasty," the thing said. It two red eyes could be seen through the fog, blinking cruelly. Elora could sense Alex approaching, the smell of the blood from his shoulder giving him away. She knew if the goblin attacked, she probably couldn't save both him and Kyle. Knowing Kyle wouldn't dare run, she let go of the tie and notched her last arrow. "Get lost," she repeated, trying to give Alex a look to not get any closer. "You know the things I could do to you, scum." The goblin cackled a bit more, then lunged at Kyle.

Mola followed after Aether silently, hoping they arrived at his home soon. She was ready to get back to her pack, the long day of scouting and watching the twins having worn her out a little. She was hungry, too. ((Yanta, you have to give me more to work with. DX))

Gritting his teeth, Kyle let Elora jerk at his hands only to bind them with some sort of itchy vine. Kyle couldn't believe his luck when the sick, rasping voice of the goblin reached him. Oh great, he thought darkly. At least the elf seemed to hate the disturbingly disgusting creature as much as he did. While Elora was busy with the creature though, he took it as an opportunity to pull at the bindings. She had tied them tightly enough that it hurt, the coarse vine biting into his skin as he moved. There was no way he was breaking free of that, he decided glumly. He had gotten himself into a real mess, he decided as he watched Elora speaking with the goblin. The shifter Alex was approaching now too, Kyle's attention was wrenched away from the goblin and elf and to him, so when the creature lunched at him, he wasn't in any place to defend himself. Letting out a strangled cry, Kyle was knocked to the ground, the foul being's weight perched atop him sooner than he could wriggle away.

Aether Once they were at the gate, Aether plays the same tune he does every morning. The small instrument seemed to echo throughout the plains and through the Ruins. If didn't take long before the strays were lining up in front of Aether and Mola. A multitude of different species of dogs and cats, all looking scraggly and unhealthy, made up the band of abandoned pets. As Aether finished the song, he looks over the group and nods. He feared that, now that the true number was shown, Mola would deny him what Kayn promised. "This is the reason you found me in your pack's hunting grounds. I have cared for these animals ever since..." He didn't wish to continue. The last thing he wanted to do was acknowledge that day's existence. His ears fold, hoping Mola would understand. Aishi Aishi's ears twitch to the sound of the goblin attack. "What... now?" She tries to stand, but is too weak to budge. "I'm somewhat better... but not nearly strong... enough to move... let alone fight." Making her final decision, she closes her eyes, hoping nothing spots her in this weakened state.

Elora let out a curse as the goblin threw itself onto Kyle. As the grimy creature grabbed Kyle in its mouth, she shot the bow right into its rib cage, causing it to let out a squeal of pain. The goblin released the boy, but soon smelled easier prey - a wounded Alex. Elora kneed the goblin hard, but instead of fleeing, it used the momentum to roll off Kyle and make a break for Alex, its adrenaline allowing it to ignore its wound. Swearing some more, she pulled a knife from her boot and threw it at the goblin... and missed. "Run, Alex!" she yelled, not really caring whether he lived or died, but still giving him the illusion that she cared. Mostly she was frustrated with how the day was going and especially with herself. The goblin, snarling and salivating, lept for Alex and clawed at his wounded shoulder.

Mola was silent as Aether played on his small flute-like instrument, listening to the tune with no outward expression. In a very short amount of time, dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes were present in front of her, all looking to Aether for direction, food, or something. She was silent for a long while, even after the shifter had spoken to her. Since Mola couldn't count, she didn't bother guessing at the number of animals present. Instead she merely nodded her head before speaking up. "Well, that's more than you let on," she said pointedly, giving the man a look. "That's okay though. I'm sure we can figure something out. Those that are able to care for themselves will probably end up leaving our pack- that's what most do- and those that don't leave are free to stay. We won't feed them though- they'll learn to hunt or they'll starve," she warned. It probably seemed harsh, but the truth was that the pride didn't have much food to begin with. There wasn't much prey left on their lands, and they couldn't really afford to feed animals, at least not the ones that weren't Demonkind.
Alex had stopped when he saw the goblin, and was a pretty good distance away. The group was downwind though, so the goblin caught a wiff of his scent easily. Alex saw what was happening before Elora yelled to him, his jaw set, and he waited in a ready position. When the creature came close and jumped, Alex shifted so he was much smaller, causing the goblin to overshoot and land a few feet behind him. Turning quickly, Alex snarled at the beast, his teeth bared and fur standing on edge to make him look even more menacing. If they didn't get out of there soon, he knew, they would have much bigger problems than a pesky goblin. Pouncing swiftly towards it, Alex snapped his jaw down on the things leg, not letting up until he felt it snap in his jaws. Satisfied that it wouldn't try anything again, he turned again and ran towards the elf and human, a low rumbling growl escaping him as he neared them, his green eyes watching Kyle. Alex couldn't keep the shift up for as long this time (standing on all fours will hurt an injured shoulder, you know!) and soon returned to his human form, noting that his shoulder had started to bleed again, the wound bothered by the weight it had held moments ago. Kyle had cried out in pain as the goblin's teeth sunk into his flesh, their dull ends those of a human's which only made it worse. His flesh had torn as the teeth went in, only to be ripped at again when the damned elf kicked the beast off. Still on the ground, Kyle panted with closed eyes, his arms twisted awkwardly beneath him because they were tied behind his back. As Alex came his way, the boy started to scramble about, sitting up and pushing himself up with his knees once he was able. "Well that was an adventure," he said, groaning slightly when he saw the bite wound. It looked terrible, and hurt just as badly.

Aether Aether nods, understanding the terms set by Mola. "Trust me, they know how to hunt. The only reason I was the one hunting was because I didn't want them to risk their lives in the wilds." He smiles and looks at his group of animals, while still speaking to Mola. "Honestly, I hope they do learn to live on their own. It's too dangerous out there, and if something were to happen to me, I'm not sure anyone else would be willing to care for them." His pupils slightly start to contract, indicating slight anger. His voice starts to get a bit raspy, indicating that he is either sad or holding back his true emotions. "We can't deny the fact that... every day we live, we are at risk of being found and killed by the Clerics. Even if we don't really agree with this war, they will still hunt us and we will be forced to defend ourselves." His right hand begins to shake as his anger slowly builds inside him, almost as if all he wanted to do at that point was kill something. The animal group all showed signs of sadness mixed with fear, slightly backing away from Aether as they see him in this state. Aishi Summoning up all her strength, Aishi rises from the ground, quietly grunting as she does so. Whatever it was that made the human cry out, she wanted no part of. She slowly starts to make her way towards one of the trees. "If... I am to survive this... I have to... get away to higher ground..." With each step, Aishi lets out a quiet grunt, trying to summon even more strength by doing so. "I need... to rest." For some reason, talking to herself made her feel a bit more secure.
