Jack frowned as the other group hesitated to react. Why weren't they doing anything? He had a daughter and the rest of his group to protect. Testing the weight of his crowbar in his hand, he nodded at the other men in his group and they sprinted forward past the others. Once he reached the first walker, he swung the crowbar with a skilled swipe and sent the end of it right through the walker's eye. It slumped forward limply and with a grunt he pulled his weapon free of it's carcass. Eddie and Gary were taking care of one more each and Danielle had gone out too, taking out another. That left five more. Taking a deep breath, Jack swung his crowbar at another coming toward him, crashing it right through the top of it's head and caving it's skull in. It crumpled to the ground before him and with a satisfied smirk, he retrieved his weapon again. "Eddie, behind you!" Danielle warned and Jack turned in time to see the older man turn too late, the walker sinking it's teeth into the former hobo's shoulder. "No!" Jack shouted as Eddie let out a wail of pain and dispair, running toward his fallen friend with weapon raised to kill the disgusting beast feeding on him.

At the question, Isaac's mind immediately went blank. Either decision could get people killed, and if that happened and he was the one to decide... oh god. Instead, he made a very long, confused, "Uhhhhhhhhhhh..." as he raised his gun. Claire grit her teeth in annoyance at Issac as she pulled her crowbar from her belt. "We're going to have to try-" She stopped herself with a curse as the other group rushed forward. "I guess we're going with plan A!" she shouted, sprinting toward the zombies as well. With a loud grunt and a heavy swing, she smashed one of the walkers' face in as Isaac did the same with the butt of his gun. The thick, stomach-curdling sent of rot enveloped her senses anew, but it didn't affect her; this scent was as familiar to her as dusty air or disinfectant. Before she had time to do anything else, however, she was distracted by the sound of the scream. Before Jack could reach his friend, Claire whipped out her revolver, took a moment to aim, and shot the zombie in the temple. It let out a sharp squeal and crumpled to the ground. "I'm a medic, I got him! Cover me!" she called out to Jack, grabbing Eddie and pulling him away from the action.

ATTENTION!!! THERE IS A NEW AREA IN THE "CHARACTERS" PART ON THE FIRST POST!!!
Yanta checked in on what few people he could. Most of the people were thinking they'd never see him again. Whenever he was presented with this, he just laughed and assured them that the only thing keeping him from visiting was the paperwork. He also mentioned that he didn't like the paperwork, but it had to be done or no order would be existent in the civilization. The people's response to that was a laugh and a bit of nodding. After a bit of a conversation as to how things were going, Yanta parted ways from each house. Since he had visited all the civilians, Yanta started to make his way toward the guard towers. "I need a good guesstimate on how many people and how much wood I'm going to need for this wall."

Of course they would, Luke thought as he watched the men from the newcomers rush forward with crowbars and the like. Of course. Obviously annoyed, he went forward as well, knifing a deadhead before the scream interrupted him. He could only cast a quick glance towards the fallen man before he was confronted by another walker. Gritting his teeth, he backed up; this one was a little faster than normal and was almost on top of him. Kyle was there, though, and bashed it with his knife, stabbing it through the top. "Thanks," Luke said, nodding to the boy. Kyle only nodded back before going to help Claire. He didn't know if the other guy, Jack, would be in the right frame of mind to help, so he was there, just in case.

Jack reached Eddie's side a moment after the woman shot it. He knelt down beside his fallen comrade, his blue eyes scanning the wound. He moved out of the way when Claire ran over and glanced behind them to see all the walkers had been taken out. But the sound of a gun was going to attract a lot more. They didn't have time for this. "Leave me here, I'm screwed. Get the others safe before more o' those things come," Eddie grunted, echoing Jack's thoughts. Jack got to his feet and looked at Luke, his eyes stony and determined. "I think you owe it to us to take us back to your place. You breached our security and I have a kid to look out for."

Claire started sucking the area of the wound like one would do a snakebite, trying to get the venom out of his bloodstream before it reached his heart or his brain. "It's no use," she said, spitting to the side and wiping the blood off her mouth, "the wound's too deep." She looked down on the man with a grim expression. "I'm sorry," she whispered. It always pained her when it came to this; she always wondered if there was something else she could do, but there wasn't. There was never anything else. A broken bone or a cold was one thing, but being bitten by a zombie... She looked up at Luke to see what he would say. Isaac stood around the group nervously, biting the inside of his cheek. He was glad that the one who had been bitten wasn't someone he knew, but then he stopped himself from thinking that because that kind of thinking was wrong. He didn't have anything to say, so he just... waited for what Luke wanted to do.

Kyle watched as Claire sucked on the mans wound, his face showing that he thought it was hopeless (not to mention gross). When she came up for air and said the same thing, he looked down and away, wondering what Luke would think. Would he allow the man to stay here and turn? If only the guy had been bitten on the arm or leg! He had seen a few people survive that by having the infected limb chopped off. This, though? The guy had been bitten too close to the head and heart- the infection would spread too quickly to save him. "Luke," Kyle called, hoping they could leave soon. Though he knew it rude, he wanted to leave, to get back behind the walls. He was just glad he hadn't been the one to be bitten, or his friends. He didn't know these other people, so it was easier for him to b cold towards them. Luke sighed, hearing that Claire couldn't save the man. This had been why he had hesitated to go in with knives and things. Casting a hard look at the Jack man, the one that seemed to be the leader, Luke stooped down next to Eddie. "You did this to your man, not me," he said, his eyes steady. His attention turned back to Eddie then, his eyes no longer as hard. "We can't just leave you here," he said, his voice quiet. "You'll turn. I can leave you with a gun, so you can do it yourself, or I can take care of it now," he offered. Some people couldn't kill themselves when the time came, not that there was any shame in that. Luke just had this thing; he wouldn't ever leave a bitten human alone, or alive. He didn't like the idea of that, leaving some poor guy to turn on their own, all alone in the world with nothing but walkers around them. He also didn't like letting anybody turn if it could be prevented, even if that prevention included a bullet to the brain.
Luna, who had stayed back a little to block the entrance lest any make it past the others, saw that there was a man that had been bitten. She felt deeply sad for him and walked over slowly, getting down on her knees next to him, her large green eyes showing her sadness. "Does it hurt too badly?" she asked soft and gently, her eyes tearing up slightly. She had seen people be bitten before, but this man, Eddie, was taking it much better than the others.

Eddie looked around at the others, a little frustrated that they were still focusing on him. He was old, 57. He'd lived his life. These whippersnappers needed to save theirs. "Just give me a gun, I'll do it once you leave," he said grumpily, reluctant to take any ammo from them. He was trying not to think about what was going to happen to him. He just wanted the little girl to be safe. He'd grown quite fond of her over the time he'd been with the group. "Anna Maria, no!" came Reagan's voice from inside the building. The patter of small feet followed as the little girl ran toward the gathered group, Reagan scrambling from her position to chase after her. The little blonde made it within a few feet away from the fallen man when her father scooped her up in his arms. "Daddy, no! I want to help," Anna Maria protested. Reagan reached them a moment later, glancing around them nervously before meeting Jack's accusing glare. "All I ask you to do is keep an eye on her. How hard is that?" She scowled at him and crossed her arms. "Maybe if you actually spent some time with her, you'd know how slippery she can be," Reagan snapped back, snatching her daughter out of his arms and taking her back into their newly unsecured safe haven while trying to sooth the little one's demanding protests to see Eddie. Jack watched them go with a shake of his head and looked at Luke, a little more anxious to leave the longer they stood out in the open. "Look, can you just shelter us for a few days while we look for a new place to stay? We're sitting ducks out here with no secure protection. What kind of man would that make you if you left us to die?"

Luke nodded, pulling out an extra gun before taking all but one bullet out. It only took one bullet to kill yourself, after all. Handing the gun over, Luke stood, looking around them. He was just about to say it was time to move out when a shout came from the store and a little girl started running towards them. For a moment, Lucas almost fell over dead. The little girl, Anna Maria, looked so much like.. Luke shook his head, shoving the thoughts away. "We need to go," he said, completely ignoring Jack. "Any of you that wanna come, go ahead. We'll keep you safe. Know this, though," he said, looking Jack straight in the eyes then, "I'm in charge." With that, the man turned and began leading the way back towards their town. Kyle followed silently, drifting to the back to bring up the rear. He offered smiles to the new people, nodding his head at them as he walked by them. He felt the tension between Jack and Luke, but he didn't say anything about it. Instead, he kept his eyes on their surroundings, watching everything as they went, lest they be caught in an ambush. Luna, on the other hand, had gathered all the supplies she could into two hand baskets, which she now toted with them as they went. She seemed rather cheerful, though inside she was very sad about the dying man they had left. She just hoped they were far enough away that the child- Anna Maria- didn't have to hear the shot when the time came.
Soon enough, the town's walls were back in sight. Luke smiled a little and sighed, glad they'd made it in one piece. Turning to his group, he addressed them. "Okay, everyone, lets get inside. All of the new guys, follow me to talk with Yanta. Everyone else, sort through what we got then get some food and some rest." With that, he walked into the town.

Claire left the man then, knowing there was nothing more she - or anyone - could do. She glanced up at the girl and Luke and Jack's bantering but wasn't really paying attention. It was something that always happened to her, much to her distaste: whenever she... lost someone, it would get to her a little, like she hadn't had enough sleep or had worked for too long. Sluggishly, she wiped her face and followed the group back to the camp. When they got back, thought, she forced herself to snap out of it. "Luna, let's go to the hospital first," she said. "We can sort things in there."
Isaac sensed the tension between Luke and Jack, and he didn't like it. It gave him an uneasy feeling, like a fight could start at any time, although Luke didn't seem like that kind of person. He simply followed everyone else, glancing around at the new people. There was a middle aged couple; a 20-something woman who looked like she could be useful; a younger, less-strong-looking girl, and the teen with the kid. What a group, he thought. At some point, he caught up with Luna. "Hey, let me take one of those," he offered, gently taking one of the two baskets from her. It wasn't for any particular reason, it just made him feel like he was doing something.

Jack frowned as he was completely ignored, only for his expression to go stony when Luke made it very clear who was in charge. Whatever, he could play macho militant as long as his goup was safe. He turned and helped gather up what little belongings they all had before herding his group out of the only home they had known since the world went to hell. He took Anna Maria from Reagan, offering his ex-girlfriend a backpack to carry instead without a word. She scowled at him and snatched the bag, throwing it over her shoulders and speeding up to get ahead of him, her brows furrowed in frustration. When the walls first appeared, expressions of wonder and hope began to take over the faces of their small group. This was it, they'd all be safe. Jack relaxed slightly, relieved that their group had finally found a safe haven. He had a community where his daughter could grow up without fear. Their lives could be normal again. He gave Gary a side long glance with a brief grin before following after Luke. "Daddy, I'm hungry," Anna Maria announced. "Just wait, baby girl. We have more important things to do than eat right now." "But I'm still hungry..." She trailed off as he gave her a cross look, laying her head back on his shoulder with a frown on her small lips.

Luna looked up when the gates came into view, a smile coming across her face. She was about to go forward, ignoring the slight tension in her arms from carrying the baskets, when Issac stopped her. His soft, kind voice offered to help her and she smiled up at him, obviously thankful as he took the heavier of the two baskets from her. "Thank you," she said softly, nodding her appreciation. About that time, though, Claire spoke up, and the younger girl nodded. It would be better, she thought, if they weren't around when the newbies were introduced to Yanta. "Alright," she said in agreement. "Lets go," she said softly to no one in particular, following after Claire as she led the three of them towards the hospital.
Luke heard the child, Anna, he believed, as she told her father she was hungry. After a moment of thinking, he sighed inwardly and turned back to them. By this time, they were all safely inside of the town, the gates cloes tightly behind them. "Okay, listen up. Women and children can go the the mess hall, Kyle will show you the way. You can too," he said, looking at the older man. "You, though," he said, his eyes on Jack now, "You come with me. We have to talk to Yanta." With that, he turned and began leading the way to Yanta's office, not stopping until they arrived. Knocking three times, Luke opened the door, just as he always did. "Sir," he said, waiting then for Yanta to speak.
At Luke's orders, Kyle only nodded. He watched as he left, Jack with him, before he turned to the two women, the little girl, and the older man. "Alright, um, it's this way," he said, smiling. "Follow me," he said softly, leading them easily down the street and to the right. They came to a building, one that Kyle opened the door to and held open for the others. "Um, you can get whatever you want," he said, smiling again, nodding to them as they went inside. There were a few people inside, all of whom worked in the building, people that turned with a smile when the group came in. It was obvious that they were a little surprised, but they all recovered quickly with ease. "Hello," an older woman said with a smile, "What can we get you?" They didn't have much, but they had sandwiches, fruits, veggies, and drinks. It was more than anyone could pass up, these days. "You all just missed lunch, but we've still got plenty of sandwiches left," a boy offered, his age no more than eleven.

Jack frowned slightly as the order was changed but handed over Anna Marie to Gary's wife, Maria, who was closest to him and followed after Luke. The small band of six follwed after Kyle, their stomachs grumbling at the mention of food. It had been a long time since any of them had eaten a decent meal. Even Anna Marie was given small portions, leaving her a little smaller than girls her age should be. "Do you think we'll be safe here?" Lara asked her older sister, glancing around uneasily. "I hope," Reagan responded, glancing back at the older couple with her child. She hoped this was somewhere her daughter could be carefree. When they reached the mess hall, they all paused in surprise, still unable to believe how much this community had. They all got a sandwich each, along with a drink and fruits or vegetables. Reagan gently nudged a carrot stick towards Anna Marie. "Come on, sweetheart. Vegetables are good for you." "I don't wanna. Carrots are icky!" The five-year-old protested, pushing away the orange food. "Anna Marie Price, these people were kind enough to give us their food. It's a special gift that we should be greatful for. Now eat your carrots like a good girl or you can't have anything else." Anna Marie sighed and took the carrot stick, eating it with a guilty look on her face that most scolded children use.

After examining the border a bit, Yanta heads into town, hoping to find some volunteers that will help him with this project. "This could open up a couple of jobs. This wall is going to have to be in a state of constant inspection and possibly repair." He mumbles to himself. He sees the party he had allowed to go out coming back. He sighs and heads back to his office, knowing that a report is to be delivered upon their arrival. He sits down in his desk and shrugs, waiting for their knocks. He starts working on the paper for the wall to go up when he hears the knock. Looking up he sees that Luke had someone new. "Welcome back, Luke." After a moment of studying the man beside him, he gave up and asked, "Who might this be?"

((Ugh, guys, I'm sorry but I don't have much in way of muse right now.))
Luke nodded when Yanta opened the door, waiting to speak until their leader had spoken. "These are some of the survivors we found today," he said, gesturing to the men behind him. "There are women and a child eating right now, too," he said. He glanced back at Jack before returning his gaze to Yanta. "This one's name is Jack. He seems to be in charge of the group," Luke said with a slight smile. He had respect for Jack already, it seemed.

Back in the lunch area, everyone watched as she new people ate, a smile on their faces as they waited to help in any way. (meh...)
-
Luna followed Isaac and Claire to the med area, waiting to help them sort as she carried her basket with her. She liked both of them, and didn't mind helping at all. She was happy, eager even, to help. With a smile, she hummed softly as she went.

When they got to the back room, Isaac watched with a good-natured kind of bewilderment as Claire practically snatched the two baskets and began grabbing all the medicines from them. "You guys sort the rest," she said, struggling to pile bottles and such in her arms, "I need to give these to people. I'll be right back." With that, she dashed out of the room. A low, pleased murmur could be heard from the bed area. "Well now that that's taken care of," he said, a little sarcastically, "let's get to work."

Yanta nods and looks at Jack. "So," he starts, "what is your purpose in coming here, Jack? Are you seeking a temporary shelter or permanent housing?" Yanta hated asking these questions, but he didn't want to risk what comforts the people in the colony had to instantly accept someone he didn't know. He saw that Luke had trusted Jack. He smiles and prepares for the possibility of bad news. "So, Luke. I'm guessing the mission was interrupted by this offer of a 'better' life?"

Luna let Claire grab what she needed, but before she could offer any help, the other woman had scurried off to administer drugs to the patients here in the hospital. Without so much as a sigh, Luna sat on the floor, the contents of her basket lying in front of her. She smiled as she started sorting them, enjoying the mindless work. It was nice, having something to do. Normally, she stayed at home or offered her help around the town, but because she had no memory and thus no special skills, she couldn't always be much help. "So," she said, looking up at the boy beside her for a moment. "Isaac." she said, trying to think of something to say or ask from there. "Um, what's your favorite color?" she blurted, blushing a little at the odd question. She wanted noise, some chatter or something, because it was so quiet.

Luke watched and listened as Jack and Yanta spoke. He stayed silent until he was called upon by Yanta. "Sort of," he said, frowning slightly as he thought. "They were holed up in one of the stops we needed to make, so it wasn't bad. We got the medicine and formula, but we didn't make it to anywhere with extra ammo or building supplies." He was silent then, as he had already said his peace.

Yanta nods to Luke's comment. "I see." He looks at Jack. "We might have some living space available. How many are in your platoon, Jack?" Rolling out a map of the area within the Border, he scans areas and possible empty housing from either those that died, were infected, or just moved on to find another living area. Along with looking at the housing situation, Yanta was also trying to figure how this could help them with the barrier that he wanted to erect. He mumbles something under his breath. His tone was too low to make out what he had said.
