Rylan was quiet after Clark spoke, a little hurt that he found her so unapproachable and unappealing to be around. She glanced at herself in the side mirror, trying to assess if she really had such a look on her face. Meeting her own emerald gaze with a small frown, she suddenly became even more frustrated and angry. She let out an annoyed sigh, sinking a bit lower in her seat. She glared down at her hands, her brow furrowed. "I actually thought we could be friends there for a minute," she muttered. She gave him a sarcastic, tight-lipped smile before turning her eyes out the window. "But whatever. If you want to think I'm just some unapproachable bitch, that's fine, too." She honestly didn't care anymore. She was tired of working so hard to be nice and let down her walls only for him not to notice that she was really trying. If he didn't give a damn about her, that was his own business.
Heath raised a brow at Sophia's response, amused by her question. Shrugging, he gave her handsome grin, "I was just curious. You just seem like the innocent type is all." With a sly wink, he kissed the tip of her nose, his fingers dragging lazily up and down over her side. He laughed slightly at the questions she posed, rolling onto his back and tugging her with him so that she was on his chest. He made an exaggerated gesture with his hand, "No, no, I've had dozens of French women," he joked, "They just can't keep their hands off of me. I think it's because I ooze that whole American bad-boy appeal." He gave her a cheeky grin, "But you, by far, exceed all of them." He propped himself onto his elbow, his other hand resting on the small of her back as he placed a tender kiss on her lips. He pulled away with a slight groan, resting his forehead against hers. "As much as I'd like to lie here naked with you all day, these bullet holes are killing me and we should probably pack." He placed another soft kiss on her lips before gently pushing her off. He tugged on his boxers as he got to his feet before heading into the kitchen to take his medication. Heading back it the bedroom, he playfully picked up and tossed his pajama bottoms at his partner before moving to his suitcase.

[The server went down last night when I hit send, so in my frustration I posted no further >_<
As I said before in my previous deleted reply to this, I feel like Clark and Rylan aren't good together. We may need a character intervention.]
Clark didn't respond to her, focusing his attention outside. He no longer felt like speaking to her. When they got back, he'd ask for a transfer and they could move on in their lives. The next few hours were absolutely boring. Nothing of interest happened and he figured whoever had been inside most have seen him stupidly get out of the car and left a back way. He felt like an idiot for blowing the stakeout, but he wouldn't admit it aloud. He'd just beat himself up on the inside.
Sophia sighed as he left her alone in the bed, snuggling up to the curve in the bed where he had lain, taking in his scent and relishing the fading warmth. She laughed when his pajama bottoms landed on her and slid out of bed, pulling them on and then tugging her shirt on from the previous night. She packed up her things, leaving out an aquamarine and white block patterned halter dress and a suit jacket. "I'm going to shower and then I'll making breakfast," she said, turning to him and pressing a kiss to his lips before going to take a quick shower. She came out a few moments later in a towel and changed into the clothes she had left out. She went back into the bathroom and put her hair back in a professional bun before putting on a bright red lipstick and doing her makeup to match nicely. Then she stepped out to the kitchen to throw together the last of their food in a hodgepodge meal.

[Really? 'Cause I thought they were getting along just fine. Lol. xD What do you mean by "character intervention"? I don't want to just scrap them. We need to come up with something that allows them to get along better.]
Rylan sat in silence, the same as her partner. She was discouraged when they saw no one go by and glanced over at Clark. "Maybe they just haven't left yet," she said hopefully, giving him a slight shrug. "We can try again tomorrow. Maybe I could go snoop around. They might be more friendly to a female face." She had mulled it over in the silent hours they had sat there, and decided that they both needed to be less hard-headed if they were to ever get through this mission. If that was the case, so be it. She would try to be personable to help things along. Just as she finished speaking, a shot rang out, the sound bouncing off the trees as a bullet cut at an angle through the windshield.
[^ I don't even know. xD]
Heath gave a small nod at her words, returning her kiss before she left. While she showered, he pulled out a change of clothes, waiting for his turn. He gave her a cheeky grin when she came out to change, whistling at her with a teasing smirk in his eyes. When she was finished in the bathroom, he grabbed his jeans and black t-shirt and headed into the small room to shower himself. When he was done, he changed and put on his glasses before heading into the kitchen. Resting his forearms on the counter and leaning his weight against the cabinets, he watched Sophia work. "You're cute when you cook," he commented, absently gazing at her.

Clark sighed at her words, starting up the car. "Fine," he said, his voice husky from not talking for a while. "I need you to direct me back," he said, tossing his phone onto her lap with the map app already open. Just as he was about to put the car in drive, the bullet flew through the window. "Goddamn it!" he grunted, the thing practically hit his ear. He threw the car into drive and with a squeaking of tires, started off down the road in the direction they had come.
Sophia glanced up as he walked in, smiling softly at his comment with a slight shrug. "It's a woman's job to know how to care for the home." She chuckled softly at her sexist words. "That's what one of my teachers from a cooking class said when I was in school." She finished up as she was saying it, placing the plate of eggs on the table. There was more food than they could both eat, but she might as well cook it and not waste it. She took a seat, the places already set and gestured for her partner to do the same. "Bon appetite." She grabbed a plate of toast, placingtwo pieces on her plate.

Rylan gasped as the bullet pierced the window, cringing back slightly. Adrenaline coursed through her as she expected to look over and see blood. She was relieved to see that he was uninjured, and flinched slightly as a few more bullets lodged into the side panelling of the car. Picking up his phone, she quickly directed him back to the cabin, having him take a slightly different way so that they wouldn't be able to be tracked as easily. When they reached the cabin, she got out quickly and headed around to the driver's side, waiting for Clark to get out. Her eyes were wide as she reached out to lightly brush her fingers over the side of his neck as she looked for a wound. "Are you okay?" she asked seriously, her brow knitted together in a look of concern. "Dammit, I'm sorry. I didn't think they'd notice us."
Heath frowned slightly at her statement, rolling his eyes. "Well, maybe I should officially welcome you to the twenty-first century," he chuckled, straightening as she gestured for him to join her. He sat down with a smile, "Thanks, Sophia," he murmured as he plated his meal. When they were finished, he cleared the table and washed the dishes. After that was done, he grabbed their suitcases and headed to the door before phoning the Institute. Once everything was settled, he turned toward his partner, stepping over to wrap his arms around her waist. "We have about an hour before we need to leave," he murmured as he placed a kiss on top of her head.

Clark was silent the whole ride home. Once they got there, he parked and just sat there a moment. He stepped out of the car, shoving her arm away as she reached out to touch him. "Just stop. I'm fine," he grumbled, walking up to the cabin and unlocking the door. He went into the bathroom and slammed the door behind him, leaning against the sink for a moment as he caught his wits. They were both being careless, and it was probably because of all of the stuff between them. He needed to resolve this before it got them killed. Stepping out of the bathroom to find her, he crossed his arms, looking at her blankly. "Look, I understand that you think I'm screwing around with you and I sure as hell can't read you, so let me make that truce you wanted. I won't touch you and you keep all of your feelings to yourself. Deal?"
Sophia helped him clear the table but steered clear of the sink, allowing him to take over. "I believe I've reached your twenty-first century," she said with a playful grin. She watched as he pulled their luggage to the door, wrapping her arms around his torso as he pulled her close. She sighed at his words, squeezing him a little tighter. These were there last few precious moments of time alone before they were thrown back into their world. "What would you like to do for an hour?" she asked, looking up at him curiously.

[Would you mind if I skipped ahead about a month with Ryaln and Clark to help with their case and relationship? ] Rylan jerked her arm back to her side as he spoke, watching him as he disappeared into the cabin. She stood rooted to the spot for a moment, gathering her nerves after the earlier shock before she followed his lead and headed into the cabin. As she was closing the front door when she heard the bathroom door open. Turning to face Clark, she blinked at his words, a hand going to nervously grip at the back of her neck. She nodded when he finished, not meeting his eyes. "Yeah, okay. Deal," she agreed quietly, "Sorry about everything. I...just, yeah, sorry." She stood there for a moment, giving him a small smile before she crossed the room and headed toward the tiny kitchen. "Uh, are you hungry?" she asked as she opened the 'fridge door. She began to grab a few things, casting a quick glance at him as she set the items onto the counter. Heath returned her squeeze with gentle one of his own, a smile on his lips. "I could think of a few things," he murmured with a small smirk, his eyes dancing. He leaned down to press a soft kiss to her lips before taking her hand and pulling her toward the couch. He sat down, tugging her with him. "I suppose we could talk some more. We didn't really get to finish our conversation last night before we were rather rudely interrupted at dinner." He leaned back, draping his arm over the backrest. He turned his eyes to hers, reaching out to lightly massage her shoulder.

Sophia made an amused hum in her throat at his words, smiling softly at his kiss. She followed him to the couch, settling down beside him easily. She raised an eyebrow at his words, shrugging in indifference. "Okay," she replied. She paused for a moment, thinking of a question to ask him. "SO what happened with your high school sweetheart?" she asked, curious after he mentioned her at dinner.

[I'll take that as a "go ahead", then. xD]
It had been about a month since their "truce". Rylan had suggested lying low for awhile, and they had received a new car to replace their bullet-riddled one. They had been doing surveillance, making sure that they were well-hidden, and had gathered an outline of information on the drug ring. They had been slowly working their way in with the low-level dealers and weaseling into the organization. Everything was going rather smoothly. Rylan felt like she was getting along much better with Clark. She was working hard to be both professional and friendly, and it seemed to be going well so far. She hadn't gotten into any more arguments with him and she had decided to actually work with him rather than on her own. She was dealing with her personal issues silently, on her own. She often cried herself to sleep, but she didn't talk to Clark about her problems or emotions. She kept those strictly to herself. However, despite all efforts, she found that Clark had a charm to him. He was attractive, smart, and had a near opposite personality from her. Against her better judgement, and though she'd never admit it, she was starting to develop feelings for him. She knew it was foolish. They were partners and they had to remain on their toes at all times, but she couldn't help how she felt. Denying her feelings only got her so far. "I think that James guy would be fairly easy to break. He's pretty cocky. I'm sure I could get him to give me some information if I show a little shoulder," she chuckled as she turned toward Clark and pushed her oversized sweatshirt off of her shoulder for emphasis. Fixing her sweater, she turned back toward the counter as she prepared their dinner. "We've got a good idea of almost all the members in this specific ring. We just need to get in. And then, you know, find out who heads all of the rings and bring them down and create world peace," she joked as she chopped up a tomato. She finished preparing various toppings before punching down a risen pizza dough. She separated it into two sections and then rolled it out. After topping the two personal pizzas, she popped them into the hot oven. When they were done, she pulled them out, allowing them to cool slightly before slicing them into sixths. She set a chopped salad, the two pizzas, and the various utensils needed onto the small table. "Food's ready," she announced before taking her seat, not noticing the flour splashed onto the black sweats that skimmed her legs. She flipped through a few pages of pictures and notes as she ate, her mind still at work.
Heath glanced down at Sophia in surprise at her inquiry. He frowned slightly, looking up at the door. "Nothing," he said quickly, brow furrowing. "Nothing happened. She just treated me differently than everyone else. She didn't see me as some tough jerk. She saw right into me for who I actually was." He cast his eyes toward his partner quickly before looking back up. "First girl I actually loved," he murmured and then paused, a sour look twisting his lips into a scowl, "And as soon as she knew that, she cheated on me. When I found out, she called me a loser and a monster and promptly broke up with me for the other guy." With a sigh, Heath shrugged. "Whatever. She was high maintenance anyway," he chuckled. "How many guys have you been with?" he asked in return.

Clark sat at the table, reading through an engineering report on a hydraulic engine similar to his own that he was working on. He glanced up when Rylan spoke, shaking his head at her in amusement and looking back down at the extremely comprehensive topic. As he had promised, he had kept his physical distance the past two months and had also forced himself to think of her in a completely platonic way. Of course, when she did things like that, it made it ten times harder for him, but he was strong-willed. He could ignore it. "You do what you think is best," he said. He wasn't against girls using their natural "gifts" to get what they needed in their business. Especially when he was completely shut of from said "gifts". He focused his attention back to the report, studying the diagram accompanying the words. He grunted in response to her next statement, not paying too much attention to her general babbling. As she placed the food in front of him, he glanced up briefly to smile and thank her before turning his attention back to the engine, making no move to touch his food. When Clark was focused, he was focused, especially when it came to fun things like engineering and building engines. However, he quickly grew frustrated as the report failed to answer what he was looking for. He sighed in annoyance and set it down, picking up a slice of pizza and taking a bite. "I don't get it. There's this one piece of the puzzle that nobody in any scientific field can fit into the hydroelectric dilemma. I just need to figure out what it is," he muttered, mostly to himself, although his tone was conversational.
Sophia frowned when he finished his little anecdote. "I'm sorry," she said, unsure of what else to say to comfort him. When he turned a fresh question on her, she merely shrugged. "I don't really have time for relationships. Things have happened here and there but I've never gotten too serious. It's difficult with how much we move around anyway." She shifted slightly, crossing one leg over the other. "What's your family like?" she asked curiously, wondering what type of life he came from.

Rylan drug her eyes away from her notes to gaze at Clark quizzically when he spoke. A grin spread across her lips and she let out a light laugh. Flicking a small piece of lettuce at him, she quirked a brow. "Sometimes you surprise me with the intellectual things you spew," she teased before taking a bite of her salad. She lifted a shoulder to half shrug at him, "I'm not entirely sure what you're talking about, but I'm sure you can figure it out. You're actually, surprisingly, very smart," she chuckled. Giving him a faint smirk, she turned her eyes back to her meal. When they were both finished eating, she cleared the table and washed the dishes. "I'm going to go shower. Then maybe we can find something to watch?" she murmured in the form of a question as she dried off her hands and gestured toward the small television set. She disappeared into the bathroom, showering quickly before she reappeared in a towel and headed into the bedroom. She changed into a baggy black long-sleeved shirt and a pair of short gray shorts. She piled her wet hair into a bun on top of her head before heading out into the tiny living area and dropping onto the couch. "Figure out your engine problem yet?" she asked as she reached for the remote.
Heath shrugged at her apology, pulling her slightly closer to his side. "You have nothing to be sorry for," he murmured against her ear with a smile. He chuckled at her response to his question, leaning back so he could look at her face, "Maybe we'll be different." Turning his eyes to the door, he lifted his shoulders into a shrug again. "A good, all-American family. My mom's wonderful and my dad's a hard worker. My two sisters are just peaches," he laughed. Glancing at the clock hanging on the wall, he got to his feet, taking Sophia's hand as he did. "We should get going." He made a quick check of the apartment before grabbing their bags and heading out to the car. Once they were loaded, he slipped in behind the wheel, and took off after his partner joined him. When they reached the small, private airport, he parked before gathering their things and heading onto the plane for the flight back.

Clark sighed at her words, shaking his head. "Funny," he dead-panned, although the faintest of smiles touched his lips at her teasing. He grunted as she spoke of getting in the shower, his eyes scanning the page. When she came back to bother him again, he glanced up and pushed the report away. "Not even close. I just need to get back to the garage and play with mine. Any chance we could hurry this mission up?" he asked sarcastically, getting out of his seat and pushing his chair in. He walked stiffly over to the couch, stretching as he moved. He wasn't sure how long he had been sitting there, pouring over the unsolvable mystery. Plopping down onto the other end of the couch, he stretched out his legs in front of him and glanced at the screen as it came on. "You know there's going to be barely anything to watch. We live smack dab in the middle of nowhere."
Sophia smiled as he spoke fondly of his family, unable to help it. "That sounds nice," she said wistfully, wishing she could have that same connection with her parents. When he said it was time to go, she sighed and reluctantly got to her feet, making sure everything was in place. She helped him load everything into the car and got into the passenger's seat, glancing over at him with a small sigh. This was as alone as they'd be for a long while. She doubted his words before but she'd let him believe it and give him the chance to prove her wrong. When they got to the airport, she followed him onto the plain and buckled into her set, not looking over at him. They needed to be professional now. She closed her eyes and leaned her head back against the head rest, dozing off for the ride home. When they arrived, she was awake and grabbed her things before Heath could. "I can handle it," she told him, lugging her luggage back up to her bedroom. the seem feeling of unfamiliarity she always got touched her as she stepped into the room. That little apartment had begun to feel like home, despite the short time they had been there. She began to unpack her things, a little tired from the jetlag.

Rylan rolled her eyes as Clark came to sit beside her. "Yeah, I'll get right on hurrying this along, chief," she chuckled, a small smirk on her lips. She shrugged slightly as he said that there wouldn't be much on, flipping through the channels. She finally decided on an old '50s horror movie, settling back into the couch. As the show wore on, Rylan felt her eyelids drooping. They'd had a long day of gathering intel, and she was fairly exhausted. She finally lost the battle with sleep, her eyes drifting shut and her head bobbing to the side. Her slender frame slumped across the small space to lightly lean into Clark's side, her cheek falling onto his shoulder. She shifted slightly against him to get more comfortable while she slept, her forehead resting in the crook of his neck and her breath brushing across his skin. Her legs were haphazardly hanging half on the cushions and half dangling over the edge. As she slept, her arm would jerk or her leg would twitch to show that she was dreaming. She let out a soft sigh a few minutes later, a hand coming up to rest on her partner's abdomen, her fingers loosely knotting in his shirt. "Clark," she groaned with a breathy hitch as she twisted closer to him subconsciously.
[xD]
Heath was silent for the duration of the ride, easily falling into his comfortable, stoic ways. When they landed, he got to his feet, about to offer to help his partner when she declined him. With a small shrug, and a frown plastered on his lips, he grabbed his own things and went in the opposite direction of Sophia. It wasn't long before he reached his room and started the boring process of emptying his suitcase. When he was finished, he decided to shower and tend to his wounds before taking a nap to catch up on his sleep. He hadn't gotten very much the night before, and the flight left him feeling haggerd. Heath awoke sometime that evening, glancing at his clock to see it was nearly midnight. With a groan, he pushed himself out of bed, sliding on a pair of slippers and putting on his glasses as he padded to his door. He easily navigated through the quiet, dark halls, making his way to his partner's room. Leaning casually against the door frame, he knocked lightly, a small grin etched on his lips as he waited to see her pretty face.

Clark settled in to watch the movie, resting an arm over the back of the couch casually. He tensed slightly when he felt Rylan touch him and he realized she was sound asleep. He forced himself to relax, figuring she would wake up in a moment and put some distance between them. However, she continued to inch closer to him and he wondered if she was even really asleep. It was made pretty clear to him when she said his name. There was no way in hell she would be doing this if she was awake. A small smirk touched his lips when he realized she was probably having a pretty raunchy dream about them. He was tempted to toy with her, curious as to what extent she subconsciously felt for him. He thought better of it, being a man of his word, and got up, pulling gently out of her grip. He walked to the kitchen to grab a glass of water and not embarrass her too much. He walked over and nudged her, taking a swig of his water. "You're hogging my bed."
Sophia finished unpacking after a few hours and freshened up, deciding to stay in her room the rest of the day and collect herself. She slid on a pair of sweatpants and a tank top, pulling her hair up in a sloppy bun to keep it out of her face. She lounged in bed, reading a decent book until she fell asleep, the novel resting on her chest and her position rather stoic. She was jolted awake by the knock on her door and she quickly got out of bed, setting the book on her nightstand and smoothing her wrinkled clothes, even though it hardly mattered. She glanced at the clock, a little shocked to see it said midnight. Anyone at the door shouldn't be surprised she was wearing pajamas. Who would be knocking at an hour like this anyway? She ad a feeling she knew who it was, and she was delighted and dreaded it in the same moment. Her suspicions were confirmed when she opened the door to find Heath looking devilishly handsome in her doorway. He was taking a big risk, giving her a surprise visit in the middle of the night. She couldn't help the small smile that touched her lips, glancing behind him cautiously before taking his arm and tugging him into her room. She pushed the door closed behind her and leaned back against it, giving him a playful accusatory look. "You shouldn't be sneaking around at this hour. You're just making it easier for someone to find out."

Rylan shifted back against the couch as Clark left her grasp, a small whimper escaping her lips. When her partner came over and nudged her, she shifted, grudgingly opening her eyes. She really hadn't wanted that dream to end, and when that thought struck her, her cheeks flamed a deep red. It was actually the first pleasant dream she had had in awhile. She struggled to keep her embarrassment at bay, thinking that he wouldn't know why her cheeks were so hot anyway. Stretching her arms over her head, she regarded him with a small smirk. "Am I?" she asked cheekily, dropping her arms to rest on the back of the couch. With a slight chuckle, she got to her feet, "Goodnight, then." She sleepily rubbed her eyes, thoughtlessly leaning up to peck his cheek before she headed into the bedroom and clambered under the blankets.
Heath's lips parted into a broad grin as the door opened to reveal Sophia, and he gladly stepped into her room as he was prompted. He chuckled, turning to face her as she closed the door. With a roll of his eyes, he closed the space between them, placing his hands on either side of her head and peering down at her through his glasses. "Oh, live a little," he scolded teasingly. He leaned down to press a chaste kiss to her lips before his hands fell to her waist. "I just had to come see you," he murmured before he released her and turned around. "Going to give me the grand tour?" he asked with mock seriousness as he went over to sit on her bed. He leaned back, resting on his palms as he gazed at her.

Clark watched her leave the room and then shook his head, taking a deep breath. She had no idea what she did to him and it was practically torture to keep his hands off of her. He was afraid to act on his feelings for her after everything before and he sighed wearily, flipping off the TV and grabbing a blanket off the back of the couch. He stretched out and rolled onto his side, waiting for sleep to take him, but it eluded him as his thoughts raced through his head.
Sophia laughed softly at his words, her heart fluttering in response to their cheesy romantic-ness. She shook her head at his words, walking over to the bed and settling down beside him. "I'm sure it's exactly the same as yours. Maybe the layout is inverted." She glanced around before looking up at him, a smile making it's way onto her lips. "How are you?" she asked, wondering how jetlagged he felt after the brief flight. It wasn't that much of a difference but she found that being on a plane just made one feel tired in general, even if they slept.

Slants of yellow light cut the darkness of the closet. Rylan peered out, her body quivering as she watched two men wrestle with her parents. The room shifted suddenly as their guns went off and her adult brother appeared in front of her. Just as she was about to open the closet door, she heard the sickening crunch of metal and watched in horror as his bloodied body crumpled to the ground. None of it made sense, but it was terrifying nonetheless. Rylan opened her eyes to a shrill scream not long after she had fallen asleep, only to realize that the heart-wrenching sound was coming from her own lips. She clamped her mouth shut and sat up abruptly, her hand coming to clutch her t-shirt covered chest as her eyes darted wildly about the dark room. Her heart was thundering in her chest and her skin was heated. She desperately tried to calm down, reminding herself that it was just a dream, but it wasn't helping.
Heath grinned as she sat down beside him, snaking an arm around her waist. "Mmm, I'm doing just fine," he murmured, his voice deep and warm. He leaned over and settled his lips on the side of her neck, his hand sliding up beneath her shirt. "And how are you, beautiful?" he hummed against her skin. He lifted a hand to brushed hair aside, pressing another soft kiss to her neck. He lightly gripped the side of her waist, splaying his fingers over her warm skin. He groaned softly, lifting his head to quirk a brow at her. "You're very distracting," he teased before he fell back on the bed, stretching his arms up around his head.

Clark's eyes flew open as a scream pierced his ears and he leapt to his feet, glancing around him in disorientation. He grabbed his gun and immediately ran into the bedroom, poised and ready to kill. When he saw that there was no intruder, he relaxed, his arms dropping to his side. With a relieved sigh, he set the gun down on the nightstand and turned the light on, settling on the edge of the mattress beside her. "Hey," he coaxed gently, pulling her into a hug and gently petting her hair. "It's okay. You're okay. It was just a dream." He kissed the top of her head reassuringly and continued murmuring softly, trying to sooth her. This wasn't the first time something like this had happened.
Sophia sighed softly in pleasure as he pulled her closer, his lips warm on her neck. "I'm perfect now that you're here," she said with a smile, being equally cheesy as he had been. She lifted her gaze to his curiously as he leaned back to look at him, an amused smile touching her lips. "I'm sorry, you're the one who came to my room," she said with heavy sarcasm. She Glanced down at him curiously as he made himself right at home in her bed. "Do you plan on staying the rest of the night?" she asked, mocking his previous expression by quirking a brow. She settled down beside him, resting her head on his bicep and pressing a kiss to his cheek. "You're more than welcome too," she said sincerely, smiling at him warmly.

Rylan's eyes flashed toward the door, and she winced slightly when she saw that she had managed to summon her partner. She could feel herself trembling, but her nightmare-plagued mind didn't register it. Her eyes tracked Clark as he came to sit down beside her, shifting as the mattress dipped under his weight. She allowed him to pull her into his arms, feeling comforted at how well her body fit with his. She rested her head against his chest, the light rumbling of his voice calming her racing heart. She closed her eyes as he spoke to her, letting out a soft breath as he kissed the top of her head. "Sorry," she mumbled, feeling guilty that he had to deal with her night terrors once again. His scent was pleasant and filled her senses and in that moment she never wanted him to let go of her. She knew she had to keep her emotions to herself, though, according to their deal. The last thing she wanted to be was alone, though. She lifted her head, gazing at him before her eyes flickered to his mouth. Before she thought too much about it, she leaned forward and placed a soft kiss on his lips, pulling back a moment later. Her eyes widened. What was she doing? They had just repaired their relationship, and they had made strict promises, yet here she was, ruining it all. With a defeated sigh, she closed her eyes. "Sorry. Sorry, it won't happen again. I'm kinda flustered." She chuckled awkwardly at her excuse, "I didn't mean to wake you. Thanks for checking on me. Goodnight, again."
Heath grinned at Sophia's question, "Perhaps," he grunted. As she laid down beside him, he turned his head toward her, his smirk softening into a smile at her words. He turned onto his side to face her, resting his hand on her hip. Leaning forward, he placed a light kiss on her lips. He lightly squeezed the hand on her leg, slowly inching her shirt up. He traced intricate patterns over her ribs and stomach, nipping her lip lightly. With a soft groan, he rolled over to hover above her, supporting his weight on his forearm. After scouring scorching kiss down over her throat, he pulled away to gaze down at her. He grinned, tilting his head to the side. "We should get some sleep. We didn't get very much last night," he murmured, a teasing glint in his eyes. Dipping his head down once more, he pressed a light kiss to her lips before pulling away to gaze at her fondly, his eyes soft.
