[DO I SENSE A DRINKING PROBLEM. Lol, jk.]
Heath glanced up hesitantly when Sophia entered the room, immediately straightening up so that there was a stiffness to his back. He shrugged at her thanks, his eyes trained on the coffee table between them. When she began to speak again, he started to bob his knee anxiously. He shrugged, "There's nothing to be sorry about." I just feel stupid, he added mentally. He shifted uncomfortably, knowing that he was the fool in the room an that she held all the power. She had the power to crush him and break his heart. It just hurt knowing that he felt so strongly for someone who felt very little for him. And really, he should have expected her rejection. She had initially rejected him on their first mission. He sat there silently before getting to his feet, "I'm...I'm going to go lie down. Pretty tired." He gave her a slight smile and a shrug before he headed out of the room and back up to the master bedroom. He grabbed his things and carried them down the hallway to a spare room. He changed into a t-shirt and shorts before laying down, his eyes trained on a wall. He fell asleep eventually, and was out for quite some time before the loud screeching of the house's alarm system. He immediately rolled out of bed and grabbed his gun from his bag, heading cautiously downstairs. He moved toward the front of the house, finding a shattered window and a brick with a note taped to it. He sighed at the cliche and moved to the front door, raising the gun slightly as he opened it. He saw the tail end of a car turning the corner, but that was all. He closed the door and switched off the alarm before picking up the brick. The note said, "Stay out of West Jonesville" in thick black marker.
Rylan lifted her head when Clark jumped to his feet, giving him an amused smile as he rattled off drink options. "Can you just get me a blanket?" she murmured, resuming her coiled position. When he did as requested, she wound the material around herself before reaching up to grab his hand and drag him down to her level. She curled herself up against his chest, now settled between a warm body and a blazing fire. "This is the least you can do considering how this is all your fault. You didn't argue with me enough. You practically shoved me onto the ice, Clark." She cast him a quick glance, offering him a teasing smile to show that she was only kidding. She snuggled up against him, her shivers slowly lessening. "If I fall asleep it's because I've been treading water all day, not because you're comfortable," she chuckled, tugging the blanket tighter around her shoulders. She wanted to say something about their previous mission, to apologize again and give some explanation for her terrible behavior. At the same time, she figured the past was best left buried and that she didn't need to open up that can of worms.

Sophia nodded dejectedly as he spoke about being tired and left the room, setting her cup down and dropping her head into her hands. Things had escalated very quickly and she wasn't sure how to fix them. After sitting there for a long while, she finally got to her feet and went upstairs to the bedroom. Her heart fell when she saw Heath wasn't there and his stuff was gone. "He must have moved to a different room. She crawled into the bed, which felt very large and empty without him, and struggled to find sleep. She was awoken later by the sounds of alarms blaring and she practically leapt out of her bed. Grabbing her gun, she descended the stairs and found Heath already at the front door. Looking around, she saw the brick on the floor and the shattered window, dropping her gun when she realized there was no real threat. The silence that filled the house once the alarm was turned off was suffocating and she struggled for something to say. "I wonder how they found out where we live," she said, crossing her arms over her chest.
Clark nodded when she requested a blanket and grabbed a throw blanket off the back of the couch, wrapping it over her shoulders. He was a little surprised when she pulled him down, but he relented and wrapped his arms around her to help warm her up. He chuckled at her words, shaking his head. "You can't say I didn't try." When cuddled closer to him, his arms tightened around her a moment, before he relaxed, scoffing at her statement. "It could be both," he said in his defense. He smiled before settling down again, almost enjoying the moment although he was getting a little hot. "GO ahead, get some rest," he told her. He'd stay there for a while and then carry her to the bed if he needed to. She was probably exhausted after her body fought of hypothermia for four hours plus the long hike. He sure as hell was.

Heath turned the brick over in his hand, "Probably from Walters. Maybe something to motivate us to investing, but to also scare us and keep us out of that part of town. That way, we won't see the lack of work." He turned back toward the window and sighed, running a hand through his hair. "I guess I'll go call a window repair company." He turned and headed upstairs to find his phone before he came back downstairs to search for a phone book. He found a company nearby and they told him the soonest they could be there was tomorrow. With a sigh, he agreed and hung up. "They can't get out here until tomorrow. We'll have to just hang a blanket over the opening or something."
Rylan nodded at his words, resting her head against his chest. "Thanks, Clark," she murmured before lapsing into silence. A few minutes later, she drifted off to sleep, curled up against her partner.

Sophia shrugged when he accused their suspect. "Or some locals who really don't want us there," she suggested. They wouldn't know until they looked at the security footage. But they could do that the following day. She waited for Heath to leave before going into the kitchen and finding a trash bag. Ripping it apart at the seams, it created a large enough range to cover the smashed window. She found some tape and proceeded to tape the hole closed. When Heath spoke, she gestured toward her handy work. "It's good for now. We can get back to bed." She awkwardly stood there a moment before speaking again. "Well, goodnight." She went back up to the master bedroom and got back into bed, laying awake once more. She found sleep a lot harder to come by this time and she just waited for the morning to come so she could get out of bed without looking unreasonable.
After a while of listening to Rylan's steady breathing, Clark gently pulled her into his arms and lifted her off the floor, carrying her to the bedroom. He tucked her under the covers and returned to the living room, tossing a sheet over the couch and finding a longer blanket that could cover him. He was soon asleep, the snap and crackle of the fire helping take him there.

Heath glanced up to see what Sophia had done, giving it an approving nod. He stood there for a moment until she said goodnight, not saying anything but watching her climb the stairs instead. He rubbed his hands down his face, kicking himself for ever disclosing his feelings. After a few minutes, he finally meandered back upstairs and climbed into bed. He fell into a fitful sleep and proceeded to wake up at the crack of dawn when the sun was just rising over the horizon. He rolled out of bed and headed downstairs to brew a pot of coffee.
Rylan awoke early the next morning, finally feeling like she was back to a normal body temperature. She climbed out of bed and headed into the living room. She found her pile of damp clothes and set them out in front of the fire and over the mantle to finish drying completely. When that was done she walked into the kitchen to start a pot of coffee and figure out what the make for breakfast. Clark's clothes were too big for her, and the collar of his shirt kept falling off her shoulder.

Sophia was eventually rescued from laying in bed when the first rays of sunlight peeked through her window. With a relieved sigh, she got up and into the shower, descending the stairs after he pulled on jeans and a tank top. She found her "husband" in the kitchen, already brewing coffee, which she had been after. "Oh, thanks," she said, choosing to settle at the breakfast bar and not comment on how early he was up. Maybe he had struggled with sleep the same way she did. She looked down at her hands a moment before looking up at him. "Would you like anything for breakfast?" she asked, trying to return the normalcy to their relationship.
The sounds of movement roused Clark from his slumber as well as the scent of brewing coffee. He woke up with a yawn and an exaggerated stretch, sitting up on the couch and taking a moment to wake up before moving into the kitchen. "Morning," he greeted her, a small smile on his lips. "How'd you sleep?"
[Everyone's drinking coffee in the kitchen]

Heath glanced up when Sophia entered the room, offering her a small smile. "Good morning," he murmured as he turned to the coffee pot that had just finished brewing. He poured each of them a cup before handing her hers and leaning against the counter in front of her. He shrugged slightly at her offer, "I'm not very hungry right now," he said before taking a sip of his coffee. He set the cup down after a moment and ran a hand through his hair, clearing his throat. "So what should we do today?"
Rylan turned around when Clark entered the kitchen, returning his smile. "I slept pretty well. You?" she asked as she poured him a cup of coffee and handed it to him. She then leaned up to kiss his cheek and pat his arm, "Thanks for the clothes. Mine should be dry soon." After preparing herself a cup, she meandered back into the living room to check her clothes.
[Lol, yeah. And I just realized that I left myself logged in while I was at work. Oops.]

At the refusal of breakfast, Sophia was discouraged from any further attempts and she settled with staring down at her cup, not taking any drinks from it. When he asked about what they should do, she merely shrugged. "I don't know." She had been so excited the day before about the prospects of getting to spend some much needed quality time with him, but everything had fallen apart in only a matter of hours. What was there even to do? What did normal people do in these situations? Maybe they just needed some time apart. "Heath," she began, finally lifting her eyes from her cup. "Maybe we should take a break. I think we need some time away from each other. At least, I feel that way. It may help us sort things out."
"Great," Clark replied to her question. His eyebrows rose at the lighthearted way she kissed his cheek, his eyes following her as she left the room. Standing there in uncertainty for a moment, he shook off his confusion and followed after her, taking a sip of the coffee. "So, when they're dry, do you want to go shopping for more? You kind of need a new wardrobe. Unless you want to wear my hand me downs through the whole mission." He gave her a grin at the thought, leaning against the wall lazily.

Heath set his coffee cup down when Sophia said his name, perking up hopefully. However, at her words, he picked his cup back up and walked to the sink, dumping the liquid and setting it down. He turned back to his partner, "You know what? Take as much time as you need. I'm sorry that I screwed up whatever the hell this," he gestured between them, "is." He shook his head and made his way upstairs. He changed into a set of exercise clothes before he went back downstairs and stormed out before falling into a steady run.
Rylan glanced up when Clark spoke, rolling her eyes at him. She stood up and plucked at the sides of the shirt she wore. "I bet you'd like that," she chuckled before heading over to stand in front of him, sipping her coffee. "So what's on the agenda today, Chief?"

Sophia flinched as Heath grew upset. She'd known it was coming, but she had at least hoped he'd felt the same way. Sighing, she dropped her head into her hands and squeezed her eyes shut, wishing the answers would come more easily to her. The sound of the door slamming made her wince and she waited a few heartbeats before grabbing the keys for the car and walking out to the garage. She pulled out of the driveway and headed off in a random direction, hoping to clear her mind.
[What's their (Clark and Rylan's) mission? I'm totally following your lead XD]

For an hour and a half, Heath maintained a quick, steady pace. When he was finally worn out, he made his way back to the large home they were staying in. He headed inside and upstairs for a shower, moving out into the hallway with a towel wrapped around his waist and a toothbrush hanging from his mouth. He made his way to the room he was staying in and grabbed a change of clothes before heading back to the bathroom.
[Oh yeah, I totally forgot. XD] Rylan smiled up at Clark, "Well, personally, I think we should just scope out the area." Since they would be taking down an importer of illegal exotic animals, they needed to play their cards right. She ran a hand through her hair, "I'm just afraid of what we'll find." The case file mentioned poor conditions and skinning the animals for designer products.

[So um yeah, I'm, just going to have Sophia disappear for like a day...yup...]
Clark shrugged at her statement about wearing his clothes. He didn't really care, although he was sure she would. She was a girl, that was their thing, right? When she asked what they should do and then offered her own opinion, he sighed. "We can do that. Clothes shopping might actually be a good ruse as well if you look into some legitimate animal fur products. We could kill two birds with one stone."

[K, yup. Well, you just post whenever you're ready. Heath's meandering through the house.]
Rylan made a face at Clark's nonchalant pun. She nodded, though, "Sounds like a good idea, though I won't actually be buying any of it." She turned back to the fireplace and grabbed her clothes, heading into the bedroom to change. She pulled on her thermal pieces first, waiting on the heavier stuff until they were actually leaving. Walking back out into the main part of the small home, still with a slight limp curtesy of Harvey, she found Clark, "Are you hungry?"

Clark shrugged, not really caring whether she bought anything or not. They'd be shutting down the supplier anyway, so the business wouldn't do anything. While he changed, he worked on the rest of his coffee and when she returned and asked about food, he shrugged. "We could get something while we're out. No point in getting anymore dishes dirty."

[I'll join your new RP later. I have to go to work. Also, I think I might have an idea for an RP.]
Rylan shrugged, "I mean, if you hate my cooking so much..." She chuckled as she put her coffee cup in the sink and turned back toward Clark. "Shall we go, then?"

[Alright]
Clark huffed at her comment. "Shut up." He pulled on his coat and grabbed the door, holding it open for her. "This whole no car thing is terrible. They could at least give us snow skis or something." He trudged after her through the snow, crossing his arms against the brisk wind. "What do you feel like eating? I'm sure our options will be limited."

Rylan pulled on her outer layers and boots before heading out the door. She dropped back to walk beside her partner, a smile on her lips as she lightly nudged his arm. "Let it go, Clark. You'll love traipsing through the snow with me, I promise. We can even stop to build a snowman if you want." She looped her arm through his as they continued on into town, "I'm up for anything." When they reached the main street, she gestured toward a small diner, "I'm guessing that will be our best bet."

[Cae, I can't handle you tonight...XDDDD Like, I can't even take this post seriously.]
Clark snorted at his partner's words, shaking his head. When she pointed out the diner, he shrugged. "Sure, why not?" He led her over to it and unhooked his arm from hers, pulling the door open for her. It was a seat yourself ordeal and once they sat down, two menus were brought to them. "Looks like their specialty is fish," he commented with heavy sarcasm, gesturing at the extensive seafood section of the menu.

[xD I thought you'd appreciate that.]
Rylan headed into the small building when Clark opened the door for her. She took her seat and then began glancing over the menu, grinning at Clark's words. "It is a fishining town..." she chuckled, glancing up at him. When the waitress came back, she ordered a light breakfast before settling back and turning her eyes to her partner. "So are you ready for this...assignment?"

Once the waitress had their orders, Clark settled back in his seat, folding his arms over his chest. He shrugged at her question. "It seems easy enough. As long as we don't run into any heavily armed poachers." He sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose. "It's a nice break but it seems a little insignificant compared to our other assignments."
