Your other half. The missing link. The one who makes you whole. Plot
Prometheus crafted humans into existence, carefully preserving them through Zeus' bouts of rage. But when Pandora unwittingly unleashed the terrors of the world, Zeus used it as leverage to strike them down. He separated them, condemning them to walk the earth disheartened, weak, and alone, constantly in search of something that they could never quite place a finger on. However, Prometheus, far more clever, put a "clause" into the human race, that if the danger in the world ever became too great, human's would be led back to their other halves as a means of preservation.
~~~
After centuries of the quiet peace that occurred following the War of the Titans, Cronus rattles his chains from Tartarus, eager and anxious. His long imprisonment has made him weak, but in recent months, the fallen Titan has been gathering bits of strength from an unknown source. His minions have escaped their confines, skulking to the inhabited world to create havoc in their master's name, a mere taste of the destruction that Cronus will inflict when he inevitably breaks free.
The recent chaos has triggered Prometheus' "clause".
Humans. Whole, as they were originally intended to be. And whole as they become, they will discover the power that their beloved god feared.
~~~
Commonly referred to as "Mayhems" because they find each other in chaos, the halves are fiercely loyal and protective of their counterparts. Most humans never find their other halves in their lifetimes, but the lucky few who do become warriors, a bit of a catch 22. They discover a power that enables them to deal with whatever destructive forces pushed them together. Upon meeting their other half, a small matching symbol appears on the back of either Mayhem's neck, like a tattoo. From then on, they are bound to one another.

Further Explanation *Important This story takes place in the modern day, in an unnamed city. Cronus' "minions" can take the form of just about anything and they create a lot of destruction. Once two Mayhems find each other and discover their powers, they are/feel bound to ward off the evil. That's essentially the premise of this RP. That was the other half of Prometheus' "clause", the "catch 22". While the humans found their other halves, they were also bound to do what they could to minimize destruction and to keep Cronus imprisoned, even if that meant their deaths. The power and their fighting skills (upon meeting their other halves) will come naturally to them. Also, the majority of people believe in the Greek Gods and Goddesses, though there are discrepancies over the "myth" of Prometheus' "clause" and Mayhems/soul mates. Rules and Notes - All site rules apply.
- Please keep the genders even.
- There is a minimum requirement of 3 sentences per post.
- For the powers, keep in mind that they'll need to be useful in combat.
- Please note that your "other half" isn't being strictly used in a romantic sense. It is a best friend and a confidante. For example, two males can be Mayhems, two females can be Mayhems, and a male and a female can be Mayhems. They can be bound together in a friendship/comradeship/brotherhood. The two bound to each other don't have to be lovers.
- Please note that while the majority of this is based off of actual Greek mythology, there are things in the plot that I created or skewed for the sake of the storyline.

- Have fun!

Seated in a small coffee shop, Agatha looked up from the literature she was studying to glance at her phone. Immediately struck with panic, she hastily packed her things and left a few dollars on the table to cover her coffee. If she didn't move quickly, she'd be late for a very important biology exam. She gathered her bag and headed out the door, walking speedily down the street. She had about ten minutes to make it the five blocks to the campus. She managed to avoid the majority of people on the sidewalk, only bumping into a few and calling hurried apologies as she went.
Allotted thirty minutes for a lunch break, Jax meandered down to a small, local cafe, not in the mood to search for anything else. He took a seat at a table in the corner of the restaurant, scanning the menu quickly after it was brought to him. "I'll have the turkey sandwich on rye and a coffee, please," he muttered quickly, handing the laminated object back to the waitress. She gave him a sweet smile, nodded, and headed back to place his order. Pulling out his wallet, Jax glanced through the folds to see if he had any change before getting up and heading outside. He paused at a newspaper dispenser, buying one before he walked back in and took his seat. Unfolding the paper, he began to skim the articles while he waited for his lunch to be brought out.

Ponytail bouncing behind her, Maria headed for her favorite café. She was in a good mood, having just finished and turned in an article she felt strongly about. After ordering a coffee and a cinnamon roll - Maria figured she deserved a treat - she headed outside to sit at her usual spot, but paused when she noticed a young man occupied it. Her eyes flickered to the newspaper in his hand and couldn't help but wonder if he was reading her article. Maria tensed at the thought. As idiotic as it may seem, she had never really thought of people reading her articles - or at least the type of people who would read them. Here one sat, only a few feet in front of her.
Having just finished his shift at the restaurant, Tomas headed home with a small plastic bag of groceries he picked up from the tiny corner market by his apartment building. Despite working with food all day, Tomas was eager to get home and cook some more. He loved experimenting with different ingredients and hoped to try a new recipe one of the waitresses at the restaurant told him about.

Jax had the unmistakable feeling that someone was watching him, so he lifted his eyes and set down his paper, noticing a young woman before him. "Uh, can I help you?" he asked casually, sighing slightly. Just then, the waitress came back with his order and set it down in front of him. He only had so much time before he needed to head back to work.
Still panicked that she would miss her test, Agatha hurried down the busy sidewalk, her head craned back to apologize to her most recently bumped into victim. Before she could turn her eyes forward, she ran smack into a solid chest. She whipped her head around, starting to apologize when a sharp pain in the back of her neck distracted her. She pressed her fingertips to the top of her spine, glancing up at the man before her. "I-uh-sorry," she said quickly, peering at Tomas. She realized that she knocked a bag from his hand and quickly hurried to help him gather the contents. She offered them back to him, smiling slightly. "I'm really sorry. I'm going to be late for a really important test." She gave him a quick smile before she continued on her way, touching the back of her neck briefly and being careful to avoid more people now.

(( Ughhhh... sorry Maria's post is lame. The site took me back a page and deleted everything -_-))
Maria chewed on her lip debating whether to ask the stranger her burning question. She shouldn't - no she had to know. "You haven't by chance read the article about the city's reforms on new ways to save energy have you?" She nodded towards the newspaper in his hands. "Any thoughts on the article?"
Tomas whistled an obscure tone to himself as his thoughts drifted to the slim waitress that gave him the new recipe. Her name was Macey-no-Malory. She was cute, but Tomas found her annoying. She talked too much, especially about herself. However, Tomas was polite. He listened to blond go on about the low paying commercial she had landed and how she was one step closer to becoming famous and quitting her crappy waitress job. That's when something hit Tomas, literally. Tomas staggered backwards, a young woman had crashed into him, causing the wind to knock out of him. "God, I think you gave me whip-lash." He chuckled only joking but his neck did hurt. Actually, it burned. Why was it burning? Tomas winced grabbing for his neck. "Hey, you don't need to do that." He crouched down trying to pick up his groceries before the woman could. "No need for apologies, accidents happen." Although, both the tomatoes Tomas needed for the recipe were crushed. He noticed she had failed to pick up one of her papers - most likely notes based on the way they were taken - and stood up to give it back to her, but she was gone. Confused, Tomas looked around. He was barely able to see her disappear into the crowd, hurrying off to who knows where. Tomas's lips parted about to yell out to her, when his neck burned again. He winced reaching for it. What had that girl done to him? Sighing, Tomas headed after her, paper and groceries in hand. He didn't rush, for some odd reason he already knew where she was going. Where she was. Tomas tried to rationalize with himself; of course she was heading toward the closest college. She had said something about an exam. Tomas knew that wasn't why, but he wouldn't allow himself to contemplate on this stranger he somehow knew, but didn't know.

[Lol, it's cool. I hate it when that happens.]
Jax peered up at the woman standing before him, reaching for sugar to add to his coffee. "I'm about half way through it," he said slowly, eyeing her curiously. Why did she want to know if he'd read some article? "Look, I'm just on my lunch break. I'm not looking to sign any petitions or anything, sorry," he said honestly, partially gesturing toward his untouched sandwich. He wasn't trying to be rude, but he only had about 20 minutes left to eat.
Agatha managed to reach her classroom just in time, a strange sensation staying with her the whole way. She hastily took her seat and pulled out her notes, paling when she realized that she was missing a page on cellular transport mechanisms. She must have dropped it when she ran into that guy. With a sigh, she settled in to take the test, frowning at the five pages of questions with an attached essay question. She hoped she'd get a decent grade. The entire time, though, something was on the back of her mind. And neck. There was a strange combination of tingling and burning at the top of her spine. She shook her head, trying to clear her thoughts and focus on her test. She tugged her curls into a loose bun to keep them out of her face, her eyes glued to question 55. "Hey, nice tat," the guy behind her leaned over to whisper a moment later, giving her a grin. The professor promptly silenced him. Agatha frowned; she didn't have any tattoos. Maybe the guy was still buzzed from a party last night and seeing things. Finally, an hour and a half later, she was finished. She handed in her test and gathered her things, heading out the door. She planned to go home and examine whatever it was on the back of her neck.

Maria let out a long sigh, trying not to roll her eyes. She realized she had bothered him with her question, but his respond had annoyed her. "No, I just wrote the article. I-I-don't know why I asked." Maria was at a sudden lose for words. She wasn't at all being professional. Maria shook her head. "I just wanted feedback. See if people liked what I wrote. Sorry to have disturbed you." She muttered, praying her cheeks weren't red with embarrassment.
As if in a trace, Tomas followed the woman that crashed into him. She was his only thought as he pushed passed the flow of people coming towards him. His neck tingled, bringing him back to reality. Tomas hand reached for his neck, but froze when he realized where he was. His thick eyebrows furrowed. To Tomas's dismay he was staring at the faded green and yellow of the college the women attended. The college Tomas had dropped out of three years ago. "Wonderful." He half sighed, half groaned as he made his way towards the science building. He suppressed all memories that tried to resurface. There was nothing about the place he'd wish to remember. He would give the woman her notes and be gone. Tomas strolled into the old building and made a sharp left before heading down a quiet hall. Again, Tomas had no clue how he knew where he was going, but in typical Tomas fashion, he just went with it. He found her classroom and reached for the doorknob when he heard a voice from behind. "They're taking a class, he won't let you in." Tomas turned around to find a dark skinned woman staring at him with angered eyes. It took only a split moment for Tomas to realize that "he" was the professor and the woman in front of him was one of his students that probably was late. "Right, thank you." He flashed her a smile, but she didn't seemed enthused. Tomas waited against the opposite wall, doubt clouding his mind. What was he thinking? He had stalked a woman to her school to what? Give her a page of note? How would he explain how he even found her? It was time for Tomas to leave. The door swung open. Distraught faces exited the room and Tomas watched them leave empathically knowing what they were feeling all to well. Then he saw her. "A-gatha!" Tomas wasn't sure if he had known her name or saw it on her notes. In any case, he needed to give her the notes and get out of there. "Cellular transport mechanisms seems real interesting," He began when he caught up to her, "-but you probably need it more than I do." He flashed her a grin, amazed at how comfortable it was talking to her.

Jax sighed, realizing that he had offended the woman. "I'm sorry, I'm just in a bit of a hurry. Your article was nice, though. Well-written, concise, to the point. I like it." He offered her a smile, hoping that he had redeemed himself a bit. "Maybe I'll see you around, Miss Writer." He chuckled and turned back to his meal and paper.
Upon hearing her name, Agatha stopped and turned around, surprised to see the man she had run into earlier. She was a bit unsettled that he had tracked her all the way to her biology classroom, but something told her that she didn't need to be frightened. At least, not too frightened. When Tomas caught up to her, she stared at him for a moment before taking her sheet of notes, her hand brushing his and sending a slight shock through her. She blamed it on static electricity. "Uh, thanks. You really didn't have to bring me these, though," she laughed, albeit a bit awkwardly. She folded the paper and tucked it into her satchel before touching the back of her neck again. The strange sensation was slowly fading. Maybe it was just an ache of some sort. The young woman adjusted the oversized green v-neck she wore, her dark denim jeans clinging to her legs and her gray flats making light tapping sounds against the linoleum. "So do you often follow people you run into, uh..." She trailed off, realizing that she wasn't sure what his name was. She should have been wary of a man who had stalked her all the way to her school, but she wasn't. She almost felt comfortable. Almost. Her neck was still unexplainably sore, and she wasn't sure how well she had done on her test, but she nearly felt at ease. "I'm Agatha, but I think you already know that," she chuckled, offering a hand to be shaken as she continued walking.

Maria wasn't sure if the man was truthful, or just trying to appease her. She took the compliment anyway, giving him a small almost unnoticeable smile. "Well thank you. Enjoy the sandwich." Maria kept forward, ignoring the empty table she was considering to sit at. With embarrassment still getting the better of her, Maria thought a nice park bench would be the perfect spot to eat her cinnamon roll.
Tomas merely shrugged his shoulders at her half-hearted graduated. There wasn't anything he could say; Tomas had no clue as to why he brought her the notes. It was a single sheet of paper and not at all important - yet bringing it to Agatha was. Tomas adverted his eyes away from Agatha when she played with her top. Tomas had already followed her to class, he didn't need to be even creeper and stare at her. However, he chuckled looking back at her when she trailed off obliviously not knowing his name. "It's Tomas and no, I usually don't." He said nothing after that, caught off guard by Agatha's beauty. She was in such a hurry earlier that Tomas hadn't noticed her dark blues eyes, the way her jeans fit nicely to her body, or the few strands of hair that had fallen from her messy bun. Tomas took in all her features, so much so that he didn't realize Agatha had started walking again. He hurried after her, smirking at her extended hand. He found her formal greeting assuming. "Your name was on your paper, but it's nice to formally meet you Agatha. I like this much more than the crash-greeting." His eyes laughed. "By the way, you owe me some new tomatoes." Tomas opened his groceries bag revealing squish pieces of tomato. He wiggled the bag for emphasis.

With a heavy sigh, Jax set down his food, running his hand through his hair. "Hey, ma'am, why don't you join me for lunch? We can talk about your article. I've only got about fifteen minutes, though," he called to Maria, hoping to amend whatever he'd done wrong.
Agatha offered a warm smile as they shook hands, nodding slightly, "Well, it's nice to meet you Tomas," she laughed. She raised her brows slightly when he revealed the squashed produce, glancing up at the taller man. "That wouldn't have happened if you hadn't gotten in my way," she said seriously before cracking a smile. She shook her head slightly, "I guess I can buy you a few tomatoes. After all, you did stalk me all the way here to simply give me a page of notes," she laughed. When the words came out of her mouth, though, she felt like she should be rather hesitant about him. She wasn't, though, which made her even more uncertain. Shaking it off, she decided that no harm could come from simply going with him to the grocery store. "So, Tomas, were these tomatoes for something special?"

[Ugh, I'm so behind already! So much reading. I haven't done a group RP in a loooooooong time.]
Katina found herself amidst the bustle of a busy café, her eyes wandering from the article she had in front of her to the people around her. Despite her absolute hatred for the human race as a whole, she often found it a pleasurable experience to sit in an area full of people and just observe. The fatal flaws of human ambition and greed often plagued her and fueled her distaste for her own species, yet she also found it a source of amusement. Call her a contradiction, but she couldn't help it. She was an optimist in one way: she was always looking for someone to show some sort of merit in themselves as a person. So it was a bit of a surprise to her as she silently observed a small dispute before her between a man and woman who appeared to be strangers. It had all been going down hill when suddenly the man called out to the girl to make amends. Well, at least he had been thoughtful enough to care about the woman's feelings. Taking a sip of her coffee, Katina went back to her article and took a sip of coffee, checking her watch in a quick glance to make sure she still had time.
Niko strolled down the sidewalk with a pleasant smile on his lips and his easel and paints under one arm, not really heading in any particular direction. He had just left his studio apartment after returning from work at his grandfather's fishing boat, ready to spend the rest of his day doing what he enjoyed most: making art. He had a feeling that he would accomplish something spectacular today, a feat that would rival Monet. He just had to find a subject first. It could take a few moments more or all day, but when he saw the scene that would break the artistic dam in his mind, he would create his best piece yet.

Maria paused when she heard the man's offer. She sighed inwardly before slowly turning around, her fingers wrapping around the strap of her messenger bag. He was being polite, which Maria appreciated, but she knew she was being a nuisance. "Thank you, but I know you'd rather eat alone. If you only have fifteen minutes you shouldn't be forced into conversation with a stranger about a news article."
Tomas laughed at Agatha's comment about getting in her way. "Oh sorry, didn't realize the world revolved around you." He teased back, his steps perfectly in synced with hers. A hand ran through Tomas's thick locks as Agatha brought the stalking back up. He sighed deeply. "It's not like that." It was time to clear his name. "You said you had a big test and where else would you be taking that? We were only a few blocks from the college. From there I just asked around and well, here we are." Still seemed stalker-ish and complete lie, but how on earth would he explain the truth? That he was drawn to her like some love-struck Romeo? Tomas jumped at the opportunity to change the subject. "Why yes, my dinner." He grinned flashing her some pearly white teeth. "I was trying out a new recipe someone gave me. Was looking forward to it until - you know - the whole tomato crushing incident." He let out a fake sigh.

Jax watched the woman turn around, noting her stance. He nodded when she finished speaking, "Alright. Have a good day, ma'am," he said sincerely, offering her a genuine smile. He hoped he hadn't ruined her day. When she left, he cast a quick glance around, noticing a young woman reading the newspaper as well. That seemed strange, almost. Most people had their noses buried in their phones, not in black and white print. With a small sigh, he straightened the paper out in front of him before he began to eat his sandwich.
Agatha cast a quick glance up at the curly haired man, smiling slightly as he quickly tried to clear up the issue. "It's okay, I was only joking," she told him, wanting to ease him. When the topic was changed, she rolled her eyes. "Stop griping about your tomatoes, I said I buy you a few new ones," she laughed. As they joined the light crowd on the sidewalk, she looked back up at him, "So, Tomas, if that is your real name, what do you do with your days?" She wasn't sure what had possessed her to walk and talk with this man, but he seemed genuine. And he was decent company. She felt at ease with him and the strange burning sensation at the back of her neck had vanished.

Tomas laughed along with Agatha. "Good." He rolled his sea colored eyes at the questioning of his name. "My name IS Tomas." Tomas couldn't deny the fact that Agatha was cute. The way she said things and her mannerisms were assuming. "Well, I'm a chef actually." He shifted the plastic grocery bag to his other hand, relieving the first one from the heavy weight. "Work down at that fancy Italian restaurant with the bushes and lights. Not the most high paying job in the world, but it pays the bills. I'm happy with it." Tomas recalled his first job in the restaurant industry. He cleaned dishes at a family-run Greek restaurant after he dropped out of college. Tomas worked hard to become a cook - the place was far too inferior to have "chefs" - and to say Tomas struggled would be an understatement. It had also caused a terrible strain on Tomas's relationship with his family. He sighed thinking of his mother and brother. "So what about you?" Tomas asked, realizing he had been quiet for the past minute; that and he genuinely wanted to know. "You've got what, one - two years left of college? What are you going to do after that?"

Agatha smiled when he played along and insisted that his name was, in fact, Tomas. He was good company. "Wow, a chef. How fancy," she said before he continued. She nodded, "I actually haven't eaten there, so I can't attest to the quality of the food. For all I know, you're a mediocre chef." She shot him a quick glance, her dark eyes filled with mirth and a smile brimming on her lips. As they fell into a short silence, Agatha veered to the right, guiding them into a small grocery store. He spoke again as they neared the produce. "I've actually got three years left. I've already completed my undergraduate courses and I'm working on my Doctor of Veterinary Medicine right now." She picked up a couple tomatoes and held them toward Tomas, "Do these two pass?" She lifted her eyes to his, offering a tilted smile.

Tomas raised an eyebrow surprised, but very impressed that Agatha was studying to become a vet. "Ah... we have ourselves an animal lover." He grinned, liking that aspect of Agatha the best. Tomas had a secret soft spot for dogs. "But do you know your tomatoes?" He gently took the tomatoes out of Agatha's hands and held them. Tomas moved his hands up and down weighing them. He sniffed both, gave a light squeeze and handed Agatha the fatter. "Not bad, you got one good one." He put the other one back before picking up a bigger redder looking tomato. He tested the tomato same as he did the last one and handed it to the young woman. "There, perfect tomatoes. You won't see mediocre chefs doing that." Tomas hadn't responded to Agatha's comment about his cooking skills, for he was lost in his own thoughts, but he wasn't about to let it slide. "I don't blame you for not trying Giovanni. I'm sorry to inform you, but I suspect you don't have good taste in food; you have never tried my cooking." He shook his pretending to be disgusted as he headed for the check-out line. "I feel it's my duty as a chef to enlighten you - and your taste buds - on great food. You get a free meal at Giovanni's on me. Only catch is I must make it for you. Since of course my abilities as a chef are in question."

Agatha smiled, "Guilty as charged. I love animals." She'd been devoted to animals since she was little. She was the first to pick up a stray or help one in distress. Her eyes fell to his hands when he took the tomatoes from her, watching as he inspected them carefully. She had to bite down on her lower lip to keep from laughing when he sniffed the produce. She chuckled and took the plump tomato once it passed inspection, watching as he repeated the steps on another. "Ah, I see. After passing a rigorous inspection, we have perfect tomatoes. But what makes a tomato perfect? Maybe your hurting another tomatoes' feelings by deeming it unworthy." She laughed as she walked with him to the check-out line, enjoying her own humor. She smiled when he began teasing her and her tastebuds, "You sound rather confident, Tomas. I only hope you can deliver. And perhaps I'll take you up on that offer." When they reached the front of the line, she pulled out a couple dollars to pay for the tomatoes before offering them to her new friend. As they exited the store, she glanced up at him, "It's been nice talking to you, Tomas. I really need to be going, though. I have to brush up for a dissection tomorrow." She pulled a pen from her bag and grabbed his hand, grinning to herself at the cliché as she scribbled her number onto his palm. "Have fun with your meal, chef." With that, she turned and headed to her apartment. Upon reaching her residence, she put her things away and showered. When she got out, she craned her head around to see what had been bothering her earlier on her neck. What the hell?" she breathed when she saw the intricate, circular mark. Initially, she tried rubbing it off, which only resulted in her irritating her skin. Flustered, she hastily got dressed and went about her day, trying to come up with some probable cause for the weird marking. That evening, after studying, preparing herself dinner, and trying to ignore the weird tattoo, Agatha pulled up the drawstrings on a trash bag, lugging it outside and to the alleyway behind her apartment building. After tossing the bag in the trash, she turned slightly, catching a strange, faint sound. At the end off the alley, shrouded in darkness, she saw the faint outline of a...creature?

Katia glanced over at the man and woman again when the woman rejected the man's offer, and she couldn't help but be slightly amused. "Tough crowd," she said out loud, not necessarily to the guy but loud enough to be heard. She wasn't going to directly approach him, especially when he sort of seemed like a jerk so far.
